7And for this reason, He said: ( Then We gave you back the victory over them and aided you with wealth and children and made you more numerous in followers )
And from Saeed bin Jubair: that the king of Mosul was Sanjarib and his soldiers. And from him as well as from others: that it was Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon.
Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned an amazing story about how he rose from one state to another, until he became the king of the land. He was once a poor, disabled, weak person who would beg people for food. Then his situation changed to what it became. He traveled to the land of Jerusalem, where he killed a large number of the Children of Israel.
Ibn Jarir has narrated in this context a lengthy hadith attributed to Hudhayfah that is certainly fabricated, and anyone with even the slightest knowledge of hadith would not doubt it! It is astonishing how it was accepted despite his prominence and high status! Our esteemed scholar, the renowned Hafidh Abu al-Hajjaj al-Mizzi, may Allah have mercy on him, has stated clearly that it is a fabricated lie, and he wrote this in the margin of the book.
There are many Israeli reports regarding this that I do not see the need to elaborate on in this book; because some of them are fabricated, made up by some of their apostates, and some may potentially be authentic, but we are not in need of them, and all praise is due to Allah. In what Allah has narrated to us in His Book, there is sufficiency beyond what remains of the previous books, and Allah has not put us in need of them, nor has His Messenger. Allah has informed us that when they transgressed and rebelled, He appointed an enemy over them, who invaded their homes, penetrated through their houses, humbled them, and subdued them, as a recompense for their deeds, and your Lord is not unjust to the servants; for they had rebelled and killed many of the prophets and scholars.
Ibn Jarir narrated: Younis ibn Abd al-Ala informed us, Ibn Wahb informed me, Suleiman ibn Bilal narrated from Yahya ibn Sa'id who said: I heard Said ibn al-Musayyib say: Bakhtanasar appeared in the Levant, and he destroyed the Sacred House and killed them. Then he went to Damascus and found blood boiling over a pit. He asked them: What is this blood? They said: We found our forefathers doing this, and whenever the pit appeared, he would appear. He then killed seventy thousand of the Muslims and others on that blood, and it settled.
And this is true according to Saeed ibn al-Musayyib, and this is the well-known account, that he killed their nobles and scholars, so that there remained no one who could memorize the Torah. He took with him a number of them as captives from the sons of the prophets and others, and many events and occurrences took place that would take a long time to mention. If we had found something that is accurate or something close to it, it would have been permissible to write and narrate it, and Allah knows best.
