And the scholars of interpretation differed in its interpretation, some of them said: the meaning of His saying: ( Lَبِالْمِرْصَادِ ) is that He sees and hears.
* Mention of those who said that:
Ali reported to me, saying: Abu Saleh told us, saying: Muawiya told me, from Ali, from Ibn Abbas, regarding His saying: ( Indeed, your Lord is in wait. ) He said: He sees and hears.
And others said: This means that He is a watch over the people of injustice.
* Mention of those who said that:
Ibn Hamid told us, he said: Mehran narrated to us, from Al-Mubarak ibn Mujahid, from Juwair, from Al-Dahhak regarding this verse, he said: On the Day of Resurrection, the Lord commands for His Throne to be placed over the Fire, and He sits upon it, then He says: "By My Might and Glory, no one shall pass me today with an injustice," and that is His saying: ( Lَ بِالْمِرْصَادِ ).
He said: Al-Hakam bin Bashir narrated to us, he said: Amr bin Qais narrated to us, he said: It has been conveyed to me that there are three bridges over Hell: a bridge concerning trust, when people pass over it, it says: O Lord, this is trustworthy, O Lord, this is treacherous; and a bridge concerning kinship, when people pass over it, it says: O Lord, this is one who maintains ties, O Lord, this is one who severs them; and a bridge concerning the Lord ( Indeed, your Lord is in observation ).
He said: Mahran narrated to us from Sufyan ( Indeed, your Lord is in observation ) meaning: Hell has three bridges: a bridge for mercy, a bridge for trust, and a bridge for the Lord, blessed and exalted.
Ibn Abdul A'la reported: Ibn Thawr told us, from Mi'mar, from Al-Hasan ( Indeed, your Lord is in ambush ) said: The ambush of the deeds of the son of Adam.
