جزء 9
سورة الأعراف
The commentary on the interpretation of the verse: "He said, 'Throw [your rods].' But when they threw, they enchanted the eyes of the people and frightened them, and they brought forth an immense magic."
Abu Ja'far said: Allah, the Exalted, mentioned that Moses said to the magicians: (Throw) what you are going to throw! So the magicians threw what they had, and when they threw it = "they enchanted the eyes of the people", they made the people believe with the illusion and deception that it was moving (37) "and terrified them", meaning: they terrified the people with what they enchanted in their eyes, until they feared the sticks and ropes, thinking that they were snakes = "and they came" as Allah said, = "with a great magic", with a great and big illusion, of deception and trickery (38). And this is like the one: -
14938 - Musa ibn Harun narrated that Amr said that Asbat narrated from Al-Saddi who said: Musa said to them: "Throw what you are about to throw!" So they threw their ropes and staffs! They were around thirty thousand men, not a man among them without a rope and a staff. "When they threw, they enchanted the eyes of the people and frightened them" meaning: They caused division among them, (39) and Musa felt a fear in his soul.
14939 - Narrated to me by Abdul Karim who said, Ibrahim bin Bishar narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, Abu Sa'id narrated from Ikrima from Ibn Abbas who said: “They threw ropes that were thick and long, and long pieces of wood. He (Moses) thought from their magic that they were moving swiftly.”
14940 - Ibn Hamid narrated to us, he said, Salamah narrated from Ibn Ishaq: Fifteen thousand magicians were lined up, with each magician having his ropes and sticks. Moses went out with his brother, leaning on his stick until he reached the gathering, while Pharaoh was in his court with the nobles of his kingdom. Then the magicians said: O Moses, either you throw down or we shall be the first to throw down. He said: No, throw down. And when they threw down, their ropes and sticks were made to appear to him from their magic that they were moving [Taha: 65-66]. (40). The first thing that was snatched away by their magic was the sight of Moses and the sight of Pharaoh, then the sight of the people after that. Then each man among them threw down what was in his hand of sticks and ropes, and behold, they were snakes like mountains, (41) that filled the valley, one crawling over the other. And Moses felt a fear in himself [Taha: 67], and said: By Allah, they were indeed sticks in their hands, and they have turned into snakes! And what does this stick of mine do! (42) Or as he spoke to himself. (43).
14941 - Narrated to me by Ya'qub bin Ibrahim, who said, Ibn Aliah told us, from Hisham Al-Dastawai, who said, Al-Qasim bin Abi Bazzah narrated to us that Pharaoh gathered seventy thousand magicians and they cast seventy thousand ropes and seventy thousand staffs, until it seemed to him from their magic that they were moving forward.
